Our food contains sufficient amount of chemicals to trigger diseases in our body and damage our immune system. These chemicals enter the food chain through chemicals and pesticides. The usage of chemical fertilizers began in the late 1960s, when the increase in population created a demand for more supply of food grains. Organic farming, which was practiced in earlier times, provides us with healthy food and helps us recycle waste that can be used to produce organic manure. Organic farming is one of our favourite projects that caters to the need of the hour. We have cultivated crops with only the help of organic manure, and cannot wait to see the results of our efforts.

The environment is our physical surrounding. Any damage to it will affect the quality of human life. But the rate at which the environment is getting damaged we will end up breathing smoke, eating adulterated food, drinking polluted water and suffer from natural disasters such as floods and cyclones. Saving the environment is the need of the hour. To that end, we have taken the initiative of planting trees, cleaning lakes and ponds and keep the surrounding neat and tidy.

Autistic kids find it difficult to interact socially, indulge in repetitive behaviors, and find it hard to express themselves through speech and non-verbal communication. This is a developmental disorder, which is genetic and not a mental disorder. Unfortunately, the common man cannot differentiate between the two. We spread awareness about autism, take care of and mentor autistic kids, educate them and help them enjoy their childhood.

According to data released by Apollo Hospitals, 40,000 children are diagnosed with cancer every year. Children diagnosed with cancer endure tremendous stress as the disease takes its course and also because of the painful treatment. It is important that they face their disease with some cheer and spirit. We visit cancer hospitals, spend time with them and share a warm and caring friendship to them.

Also, to keep the cancer wards free from dust, our volunteers clean them regularly. We believe that social work involves creating a better physical environment, as well as providing emotional support.

Children with HIV suffer physical pain, as well as social ostracism. This makes life very difficult for them. Even the educated sections of the society think that HIV can be transmitted through direct contact, that is, when we talk or spend time with those affected by HIV. We wish to break this stereotype, and also make it possible for the kids to mingle with the outside world. We visit these kids, teach them, assess their wants and needs, guide them towards their goal and provide monetary and emotional support. Our volunteers believe that we are duty bound to help them live a meaningful life.

Though the eyes of the society still see differently abled people as misfits, there is mounting evidence of success stories of differently abled people. They long for recognition and equal opportunities. At Care And Welfare, we raise our voice against the abuse of differently abled people and provide a platform for them to showcase their talents. We take every opportunity to rope in differently abled people to play a role in any of the events we conduct. Their lives teach us lessons on determination, hard-work, optimism and much more that many education institutions fail to teach.

The fast paced, money-driven life of today has led to certain groups of people to be relegated as unimportant. Elderly people have to be admitted into old age homes as their children do not provide them with basic amenities such as food and shelter. Even those living in such homes expect warmth and love from others. We schedule visits to old age homes in and around the city, spend some quality time with them as kith and kin would and wipe off their tears to revive their happiness.

India accounts for around twenty million street children. Most of these children have been abandoned by their parents. In fact, it’s estimated that only 0.3% of these children’s parents have actually died. More than half of them live in institutional orphanages with deplorable conditions, where even their basic needs are not met. We raised up to the challenge of creating a better living environment for those children. We visit the orphanages that are in and around, that are lacking in providing basic amenities to those children and that requires moral support to run efficiently. We have so far visited 100 orphanages and with the support that we have and the support that we are about to get in the future, we will try to visit each and every registered orphanage in the state in the coming days.

More than 70% of India is rural population. Rural Health care is one of biggest challenges in our country. The rate of medical emergencies in India has also enlarged. We conduct periodical medical camps in rural areas of the city and also remote places where medical needs are not met. People are not aware of the diseases, ill effects of the disease, preventions, treatments available. The inadequacy knowledge in this case leads to many deaths and physical problems. We wish to reform the scenario through periodical medical camps by creating awareness about the diseases spreading in and around their place and measures to be taken for prevention.
